I'm sure you will get other replies more complete that this, but for what
it's worth: "Gray Market" usually means the item was imported and is being
sold by a non-authorized retailer. Yes, it does affect warranties, since
manufacturers usually won't honor any guarantee under these circumstances.
Personally, I'm leery of this. I guess if the retailer will make repairs if
needed it might be O.K. And Kowa scopes (I have one) are pretty well built
and will withstand a fair amount of abuse.
I bought mine through www.eagleoptics.com[1], which is a Wisconsin firm.
Thesales people I talked with on the phone were quite helpful. The prices
are pretty good. You might try shopping there.
