I saw two (yes, 2) Swallow-tailed Kites in adult plumage over the York River
near the mouth of Sarah's Creek in Gloucester County on Wednesday, July 23rd at
mid-day. This is the same area where I saw one in May of 2002. Two other
people have seen them in this same area in recent years. If you're boating
near the York River Yacht Haven or crossing the York River Bridge, look
down-river for this magnificent bird.
