Hello VA and Richmond birders,
I birded from Sunken Meadow (Surry Co.), back to the City of Richmond this
morning between 7.00 a.m. & Noon. Highlights were around 6,000 RING-BILLED
GULLs leaving the James River at dawn (flying inland). Expected species
observed; FOX SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW, 1 BROWN THRASHER, AM. WIGEON, GADWALL,
HOODED MERG. PG County was a little birdy, with 40 or so HORNED LARK,
SAVANAH SPARROWS, couple thousand CANADA GEESE that were too far away to
scrutinize. Also a couple hundred Tundra Swan. I was planning on going to
Flowerdew Hundred but it is closed until spring.
Best was a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK flying/hawking 4 feet above the road surface,
along the hedgerow, hoping to flush it's lunch.

Richmond, VA
