A Surf Scoter was seen today (11/7) on South Holston Lake,
Washington Co., VA, by Rick Knight and Wallace Coffey.
Knight believes it is a "female-type."
The bird was located just off Washington County Park
in the Spring Creek Embayment of the lake.
This is possibly the same bird seen a couple of hundred yards
across the stateline in the Tennessee portion of the
impoundment by Coffey on 4 Nov.
