I was able to go see the Snowy Owl in Dayton yesterday evening. Awesome,
gorgeous bird! I dropped everything at work when I saw Clair's posting, and I
met up with Kevin Shank at the sight (at the church at junction of Rushville
Road and Coakley Town
Road, Dayton). Unfortunately, I had none of my birding gear in my car, just
some spare bins in my glove compartment. I didn't want to waste time detouring
to my home to get my camera. The bird was maybe a hundred yards away. I was
admiring it for a while with others when I realized I might be able to
"digiscope" this bird with my iPhone through my bins. It was very awkward and
difficult to hold steady, but I actually got some ok photos!

This bird perched on a wooden post all afternoon before finally taking flight
around 5pm and landed on top of silo across the road. Later, after I left, I
think I saw a posting that the bird then flew about a mile east along Swoope Rd.
