Hi-
Just left (2:25 pm) and snowy owl was still sitting on light post. It is on
the White Wave property but seems they are asking birders to leave the parking
lot. Also, First Russian Baptist Church school officials asked birders to
leave parking lot. Please be respectful of these private properties as you
look for the owl.
The best view of the owl is from a private drive at 596 Dinkle Avenue. The
owner, Mr. Showalter has been wonderful all day and so very welcoming to the
bird community. He asks that we keep the lane clear for farming, please do not
walk or drive into the fields, but we can park along the lane in the grass
before it turns to cover crop. This is lane is almost directly across Dinkle
Avenue (Rt 257) from Mt Crawford Creamery. To see the owl, turn onto this
paved lane and go over the hill. Look towards Masanutten Mountain to the last
light pole, four trailers from the end of line of trucks. I have to be in a
faculty meeting until 4:15, then taking BC friends back over.
My plan is to be on location at 7 am to report if it is still there tomorrow
(Sat. Dec. 2nd). We live just a mile away in Bridgewater so will be checking!
Cheers - Robyn P.
