Hi Va-bird,
Today (3 February) I went out to Sky Meadows for a few hours in an attempt
to escape the Barnacle Goose hysteria. I didn't find anything unusual, but
all the interesting piedmont birds were around. Highlights included an
Eastern Towhee on the Bridle Trail, Red-headed Woodpeckers along the main
entrance road, Common Ravens on both sides, 2 Northern Harriers, and Eastern
Screech-Owl along the Bridle Trail. The Loggerhead Shrike was not seen.

Black Vulture - 16 including 13 on rt. 66
Turkey Vulture - 11 including 3 on rt. 66
Canada Goose - 6
Northern Harrier - 2 a female on both sides prob. not the same bird
Red-shouldered Hawk - 2 along rt. 66
Red-tailed Hawk - 8 including 5 along rt. 66
Ring-billed Gull - 3 outside Gainesville
Rock Dove - 15
Mourning Dove - 9
Eastern Screech-Owl - 1
Red-headed Woodpecker - 3
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 7
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 4
Downy Woodpecker - 10
Northern Flicker - 5
Pileated Woodpecker - 4
Blue Jay - 12
American Crow - 28
Common Raven - at least 6, possibly more
Carolina Chickadee - 15
Tufted Titmouse - 11
White-breasted Nuthatch - 8
Brown Creeper - 5
Carolina Wren - 7
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 2
Eastern Bluebird - 21
American Robin - 4
Northern Mockingbird - 5
European Starling - 32
