I suggested to Council rep. Joyce Woodson that the Alex. Parks dept. =
have on board a bird-oriented volunteer who could consult (and hopefully =
in the future be consulted on) issues related to the park. She =
responded: "I would suggest that you tell the birders who want to work =
with the staff that they may contact Kirk Kincannon, Deputy Director =
Recreation, Parks and
Cultural Activities Department at Kirk.Kincannon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or
838-4340." Perhaps the park could use a "Friends of Monticello" =
committee or some such thing.
As for bird sightings, I had 10 warbler species, all in the midsection =
of the creek, on Sunday between 12-2. BTB, BTG, YR, Ovenbird, Redstart, =
B&W, Blackpoll, Yellowthroat, Parula, and what I thought was a =
Nashville. (I suppose I cannot rule out the Mourning based on my own =
looks, but others who I guess saw it better thought it was a Nashville). =
Also Blue & Rose-breasted Grosbeak, along with other likely suspects.

Has the Mourning Warbler made another appearance at Monticello?
