VA Birders - I have been asked to forward this note from Chuck Hagner. Chuck
is a former Virginia birder who moved out of the area almost two years ago to
take a job as editor of Birders World magazine:
Wall Street Journal Feeding Article Distorts Truth
http://www.lauraerickson.com/Birds/Conservation/WSJDistortions1.html#CornellLetter
This web page contains a paragraph-by-paragraph response to the article on
birdfeeding that the Wall Street Journal saw fit to run on its front page on
December 27 ("Feeding Wild Birds Lures Pests, Predators, Causing Illness and
Distorting Populations," by James P. Sterba).
The page also contains the script of Laura Erickson's "For the Birds" radio
program concerning the WSJ article and a copy of the letter sent to the WSJ
by John Fitzpatrick, director of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, and
Andre Dhondt, program director of bird population studies at Cornell.
You can't always believe what you read in the newspapers, you know.
Happy New Year to you and to all VA birders!
