I made an attempt to rack up a sizable list this morning, starting at
5am in the Quantico Marine Base and then making stops along Possum Point
Rd., Leesylvania SP, Metz Wetlands, Occoquan NWR, and the area behind my
house in Woodbridge.  I had 100 species by 11:30am, including 19 warbler
species.  I did not see anything unexpected, and really felt that it was
a relatively slow morning.  I know I missed some birds that are around,
like blue grosbeak and black vulture (I still might see them sometime
today).  I expect things to pick up considerably over next 2 weeks.

A partial list of what I saw is listed below:

green heron
lesser scaup
ruddy duck
spotted spandpiper
Bonaparte's gull
yellow-billed cuckoo
great horned owl
barred owl
whip-poor-will

black-throated blue warbler
yellow-rumped warbler
blackburnian warbler
yellow-throated warbler
pine warbler
prairie warbler
palm warbler
black-and-white warbler
prothonotary warbler
worm-eating warbler
