There was a pine warbler singing not far down the path from the entrance
about 8:30. It was feeding near the path and fairly low so I had good
views. Also nearby were a yellow-rumped warbler and another warbler. The
third warbler was higher up and nearer the sun so that I didn't get a great
look, but I think it may have been a La Waterthrush. Description: light
undersides with heavy streaking on the flanks and quite a bit of color on
the flanks, very light to no streaking on breast and chin, dark back with no
wing bars, dark face patch with light eyebrow. Larger than the two other
warblers. [Sorry, Kurt, that's the best I can do. I know this is very early
for a La Waterthrush.]
The pine warbler was singing from the pine trees near the parking area as I
was leaving but stopped singing or moved away as I approached so I didn't
relocate it.
There was also a singing E. Phoebe.
The marsh near the viewing platform is as bare as I've seen it, but the more
distant parts of the martsh seem to have plenty of vegetation. There were
lots of green-winged teal in view but not much else. Complete list:
