Unfortunately the birding world has latched on to the term leucism to
describe any form of depigmentation, but that is not accurate. Leucism
describes a specific group of mutations similar to albinism or piebaldism.
If you don't know the specific cause of the plumage abnormality it's best to
call it depigmented or pigment abnormality rather than tag it with what is
potentially the wrong mutation. There is lots of good information here for
