Hello All,
There were 12 birders on this morning's walk sponsored by The Bird Feeder
(Reston), Reston Association, and Audubon Society of Northern Virginia.
Highlights of what we spotted follow:
GREEN HERON-2
HOODED MERGANSER--appeared to be a first year male
RED SHOULDERED HAWK--at least 2
KILDEER--2, with one of them sitting on a nest
EASTERN PHOEBE--possibly with a nest under the boardwalk
at least one person thought she heard a GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER
RUBY CROWNED KINGLET--not seen by all
BLUE GRAY GNATCATCHERS
BROWN THRASHER--at least two
YELLOW WARBLER
YELLOW RUMPED WARBLER
PALM WARBLER
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT--not seen by all
EASTERN TOWHEES--male and female
SWAMP SPARROW
RED WINGED BLACKBIRDS--male and female, with some of the females building nests
Even though the light wasn't all that great, it was a nice morning for a
