I saw the PAINTED BUNTING this morning on Lambert Trail in Chesapeake.
He came to the feeder at 7:55 and remained in the area for about 10
minutes while visiting the feeder several times. After he left, I hung
around until 9:00 to see if he would come back, but he did not. Many
thanks to the home owner(s) for allowing us to hang out in the driveway
while waiting for this stunning bird.
I also took a ride to the intersection of Longview Dr. and Woodland Dr.
in Isle of Wight Co. to see if the Eurasian Collared-Doves, that were
discovered there last August, were still around. Sure enough, as soon
as I got to the intersection there were 6 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES
hanging out on the wire and telephone pole.
In between these 2 stops, I went to Craney Island in Portsmouth and had
a nice variety of water birds. A complete list of what I saw at Craney
is below. Good birding.
