Hello VA-Birders,
I saw the LeConte's Sparrow earlier in the week but I decided to go to Occoquan
again this afternoon from about 12:30 until after 2 to catch another glimpse,
and see what else might be lurking. I an another birder did not see it when I
left, but the park ranger walked over and told us that he had just seen it but
wouldn't say where, exactly. It may have been along the road that is closed to
foot traffic, and he did say that people walking along this road would not be
tolerated. The list from my time there is pasted below.
I also scoped Belmont Bay and found at least 72 AMERICAN COOTS and 14
PIED-BILLED GREBES, among other waterfowl, which as also listed below.
Certainly beautiful weather for early November.
