This posting is for Friday, Jan 28.
The temp on Friday in Northumberland was about 21 degrees, clear skies and
very brisk winds. Morning travels on the NNK took me to Hull Neck and Mob
Neck, both of these places are on the Potomac. As I mentioned there was a very
brisk wind, rolling up to the shore on the Potomac was about 30 yards of slush
and ice. Hull Neck and Mob Neck are near where the Potomac meets the
Chesapeake Bay. In the afternoon I stopped by the Great Wicomico Bridge (Route
200), also very cold and stiff winds were blowing. After birding at the bridge
I stopped by Smokin Joe's Barbeque in Kilmarnock to fuel, talley and warm up. I
also stopped by to see if the white hawk was about, but no such luck. My last
stop for the day was on Balls Neck and Dameron Marsh, both locations were cold
and the winds were still a blowin...
I stopped counting robins and starlings as they were in all the farm
fields, peoples' front lawns, on the side of the road throughout the whole day.
