[va-bird] Northern Saw-whet Owls- Rockingham County

After a very slow start to the fall migration of saw-whet owls, someone
opened the door last night and let the owls out.  Throughout the region
(MD,WV) we had a good influx of owls. Before last night, here in
Rockingham County, I had banded less than 20 owls.  Last night we had 21
before midnight.  Perhaps the cold front, the colder temperatures, or the
lunar eclipse (!) brought them down.  Who knows.  The eclipse was
beautiful but we didn't have much time to look at it.  We'll see if the
movement continues.
