Huntley Meadows in mid-morning and early afternoon held the usual suspects. The
Eurasian Teal was still present, though the number of Gr.-w. teal was quite a
bit lower than last weekend. No sign of the White-fronted Goose. Has this goose
here since last Mon.?
Huntington Creek mudflats also held the usual suspects: about a dozen Common
Mergs., one pintail, and many Ring-billed, 10-20 Great Bl.-backed, and 5
Herring gulls. No unusual gulls ID'd. An adult Bald Eagle was soaring with an
immature, and frequently "harrassing" the youngster by coasting down almost on
to its back. Did not appear to be serious aggression, but playful. The imm.
appeared to be trying to ignore it or at least there was no overt response that
I could see other than ducking.
Dyke Marsh was quiet, but did pick up a Lincoln's Sparrow moving along with
several Wh.-throated's in the cattails where the view to the marsh first
becomes unobstructed.
