I am entering the last phase of this season's Common Nighthawk
migration study by determing their departure date. I am checking a
nocturnal feeding area at Fairfax Square, Tyson's Corner, Fairfax Co, VA.
Tonight there were 4 birds floating in the wind high over the buildings. My
5 year average departure date is October 11.
The last nighthawks I saw at my watchsite at Van Dyke Park, Fairfax
City were 2 on September 25.
