I was at Reston town center last Friday night sitting by the fountain facing
the buildings behind the fountain. Observed about 10-20 Nighthawks from that
angle (Couldn't tell numbers for sure because they were flying behind the
buildings.) There was a nice breeze. The birds would fly into the wind and
hover in place before diving and flitting away. Quite a show!

For those out in western Fairfax County the Hyatt Hotel at Reston Town Center
has in the past been a nice alternative for Nighthawks. I haven't been there
yet so I can not report at this time.

Hi,
The Nighthawk activity at Tysons continued tonight. I did not get to see the
previously reported number of 50+ Nighthawks and was able to count some 20+
Nighthawks.
It is really unbelievable that one can see so many of them so clearly at this
place. Last year I remember having gone to Fort C.F. Smith park (thanks to
Larry Meade) where we got fleeting glimpses of around 3-4 Nighthawks after some
waiting!
cheers,
