Earlier this spring some members of the Roanoke Valley Bird Club erected
three nestboxes in Solitude Swamp in Arcadia in the hopes of enticing
prothonotary warblers to nest there.  This morning my husband and I checked
the three boxes and found an active nest with 5 eggs in one of them.  The
male was singing a lot and flying around to different parts of the swamp,
and I got a glimpse of a bird, presumably the female, entering the box.  We
plan to return in a week or so to check on their progress.
