Sunday at Monticello Park in Alexandria, several male hooded warblers sang
near the weir closest to the upper end of the stream. At the bottom end, a
black-and-white warbler consistently posed in trees near the display case.
But the most interesting bird may have been a quite friendly winter wren
that hung out near the metal bridge, which often came within a few feet of
me and another birder and did a good impression of a hummingbird as it
hovered over shrubbery.
