VA Birders,
After reading a few other reports, I realized I hadn't posted my
sightings from Northampton Co. last Sunday afternoon, Oct. 8, after the Birding
Festival ended. I drove up to Willis Wharf, arriving about 2:00 pm, when the
flats
were just beginning to be exposed, and I found 6 MARBLED GODWITS there along
with a sizable flock of WILLETS. Then I worked my way back toward the Eastern
Shore of VA NWR. About 5:00 pm, I drove down Rt. 600 from Capeville and
stopped at Magotha Road. On the wires by the last house on Magotha Road (a
block
east of Rt. 600), I found 4 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES with a group of Mourning
Doves. A little later, at Ramp Road on the refuge, I was joined by 2 birders
from Richmond Audubon, who spotted an immature WHITE IBIS, the only one I saw
all
weekend.
Good birding,
