Howdy all,
Well FINALLY the songbird banding has picked up! Thanks to the recent cool
front, the numbers at the banding station are finally in the normal range. At
least for a few days anyway. Ha ha
Today we had our best day of the season with 107 birds banded this morning and
early afternoon. A total of 20 species made an appearance including a few nice
birds. Highlights today were the number of Veerys captured (18). Other goodies,
included a Tennessee Warbler, Canada Warbler, Swainson's Thrush, and five
Worm-eating Warblers. Of course, all the birds banded today are goodies! And
dare I say, even the 6 Northern Cardinals?
Many folks stopped by the station today including a few heading up for the VSO
meeting. A good time was had by all and a very beautiful day to be out.
Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come!

I do hope that everyone can come out to the banding station sometime this year!
As late Sept. draws closer, so do the bigger numbers of birds. And when Oct.
hits, hold on!
