Howdy all,
Today was a much less windy and a bit cooler. Birds were around but not in
the numbers they were in yesterday. Go figure. Anyway, we did have a decent day
banding a total of 62 birds made up by a lot of warbler species and of course
the, now, ever present GRAY CATBIRDS. The highlight bird of the day was our
fourth MOURNING WARBLER of the season. We also caught a NASHVILLE WARBLER and
SUMMER TANAGER which was nice to see both of them. We ended the day with a
total
of 13 species of warblers, if you count Chat.
Here are the totals for the day (9/25):
A. Redstart 6
N. Parula 3
Magnolia 2
Nashville 1
Prairie 1
Black-and-white 1
Black-throated Blue 2
Western Palm 1
C. Yellowthroat 8
Mourning 1
N. Waterthrush 1
Ovenbird 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 2
House Wren 3
Carolina Wren 3
Swainson's Thrush 1
Summer Tanager 1
Gray Catbird 22
N. Cardinal 2
TOTAL ------------------- 62
It was a nice day at the banding station. It will be interesting to see what
the next few days hold for us. I am hoping for a Connecticut Warbler soon!
Timing is about right for them here.
Hope to see you all soon!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
