Howdy all,
Today was pretty ugly. In fact, I only caught two birds. But one was a CANADA
WARBLER, a species we didn't catch at all last fall. So that was by far the
highlight. Only other bird caught was a NORTHERN CARDINAL. And because of the
high temps and humidity, I closed the station fairly early in the morning (by
10:45). Tomorrow looks to be a repeat if it is not raining in the morning. If
it is raining, I will not be at the banding station.
Overall, there was little bird activity at the station. There was, however, a
few BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS around this morning. Besides them, it was dead.
I am ready for a cold front!
Totals for the day.
Canada Warbler 1
Northern Cardinal 1
TOTAL ---------------------- 2
I sure hope tomorrow is not like today but looks unlikely.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
