Howdy all,
Today was a bit better for overall number of birds and we even caught a nice
uncommon LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH today! There were a few more migrants around
the park this morning, including our first little push of NORTHERN
WATERTHRUSHES. And the trophy for two of the more beautiful birds on the day
were two adult
BLUE GROSBEAKS (both male and female). We ended the morning with a total of
16 birds. Not a high number, but it IS higher than yesterdays 3!
Although not caught, there was a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO in the trees near the
banding station today. Not a bird I see many of here. That was exciting!
Here are the totals for 8/24:
American Redstart 1
Louisiana Waterthrush 1
Northern Waterthrush 2
Blue Grosbeak 2
Carolina Wren 1
Northern Cardinal 1
American Robin 1
Northern Mockingbird 7 yes there are still that many unbanded
here in the park!??
TOTAL --------------------------- 16
Monarch numbers took a bit of a jump today near the banding station. They
kind of disappeared during all the cloudy days recently.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Might even see some of you!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
