Howdy all,
With the upcoming weather, the banding station was closed today and taken down,
but just temporary. We are in hopes of having the station back up and running
by early next week. It all depends on how much damage is done at the station.
i.e fallen trees across net lanes. As the hurricane passes, it could make for
some interesting banding/birding the days after. With that said, we are hoping
to have the station up and going by Sunday/Monday.
In other news, we did banded today and captured 35, which is good for the
amount of wind that was around.
Some of the birds banded today included Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Traill's
Flycatcher, Acadian Flycatcher, Y-S Flicker, Red-eyed Vireo, Swainson's Thrush
and Veery. As for warblers, we had Prairie, C. Yellowthroat, Black-throated
Blue, Redstart, Ovenbird, Western Palm, Magnolia, and N. Waterthrush.
Sorry about not having numbers, but we are busy trying to get the house ready
for the light rain showers expected!
I will post numbers and species for the last few days later.
