Howdy all,
The morning was filled with rain showers early, so Bob and Kathy Loomis and I
took in breakfast at Stingrays and waited for the rain to quit. We rolled back
to the station at 7:30 and got the nets open and started the day off. Only if
we had known what laid in store.
The rains pulled out and the temperature was nice, but the winds posed a little
problem. There was a few birds in the area but not very many. Captures started
of slow and never really picked up. So we called it a day at 12:30.
The highlight capture of the day was a Grasshopper Sparrow, making it the 12th
one banded this season! A very good number for here.
Today's grand total of birds banded:
Grasshopper Sparrow 1
Yep that's it! ONE!
It was very ugly today. I am glad that Bob and Kathy were there today to help
me try to maintain my sanity. I sure hope tomorrow gets better. We couldn't get
much lower but I am afraid to say anything!
We hope the north wind in the forecast is actually going to happen and it
pushes a good group of new birds into the area!
Keep your fingers crossed!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
