Howdy all,
Today turned out to be a pretty good day at the banding station. We ended up
banding a total of 199 birds making up 31 species. We also had five recaptures
that included two other species that were not banded today. Highlights? We had
some good birds, but nothing super rare. Maybe the most sought after bird was
the Connecticut Warbler but the 39 indigo Buntings was quite impressive!
Hopefully the bird numbers hold for most of this week. It looks good!
Totals for the day:
A. Redstart 13

N. Parula 5
Nashville 1 3rd of the season
Yellow-rumped 8 all Myrtles, surprise eh?

Tomorrow we are going to have a lot of groups coming though the station. We
should have birds for them. Wednesday looks pretty good too. It could be a good
week! Yellow-rumps are showing up so our overall numbers should start to climb
rapidly! I am expecting good numbers of sparrow this season and buntings will
be good for a while! Could this season really get any better?!
Hope to see you all at the banding station!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
