My wife and I had a nice day at Huntley Meadows park yesterday.
It was great to see the water levels back up where they used to be. The
beavers have been hard at work.
There was a nice assortment of water fowl (I didn't try to do exact
counts but I have provided rough estimates)
If a few duck identification experts could email me off-list, I'd
appreciate a confirmation that I have identified the Lesser Scaup
correctly. This was the first time I've seen them so I don't have field
experience with the difference in the shape of the head between Lesser
and Greater. Here is a link to a picture of one of the two birds we saw
(top row - third picture from the left)

Northern Pintail (4-8)
Lesser Scaup (?) (2)
Ring-necked Duck (1)
American Coot (1)
Mallards (many)
Hooded Merganser (2)
Canada Goose (many)
Ring-billed Gulls (many - 100+)

Fish Crow
American Robin

Red-shouldered Hawk

For those who are not familiar with Huntley Meadows park. Here's a link
that will tell you about the park in Fairfax County, Virginia.
