I decided to walk as far as possible on the "informal" trail past the new
beaver dam, as was rewarded with a 7-woodpecker spot, at the end of the dogleg
perhaps 1/2 mile past the dam. On the walk I saw or heard red-headeds in three
places. It's possible that I double-counted some, but there were at least 3,
probably 5. One was drumming on a tree with a drumming sapsucker. Fun!
By sheer coincidence, I also saw seven species of sparrow (white-throat,
song, swamp, field, fox (2), junco, towhee), and seven species of waterfowl
(Canada, mallard, pintail (8), gadwall (2), green-winged teal (25), wood duck
(6),
and hooded (12)).
At least two barred owls called vigorously around 6:30.
