Weather:
Dimishing SW>SE winds from 12-19 km/h to 6/11 km/h.
Cloud Cover: 0
Temp:(hi) 25.5 (2-3 p.m. EST)
Humidity: 42 increasing to 46
Beautiful afternoon with increasing cloud cover. Very difficult to find
high sailing BWs in bright blue upper level hazy skies.
Observations:
Try as we might, we just couldn't squeeze in a few more birds to make it
our first triple day. Like they say, tomorrow is another day! We had no
morning coverage. What a pity because they were certainly flying this
afternoon. Coverage began from 1 p.m. ending at 5 p.m. (EST) with bulk of
birds between 3-4. We had our first "kettle" of BW's with over 20. It
was like old homecoming week with Dick and Nancy Morton from NJ down for a
week, Mary Smith taking time off from her busy teaching schedule, Donna
Lewis, Richard Schiemann who took the reigns as countkeeper and Nancy
Corwin, spotter extrordinnaire.
The two eagles were adults, including our 4 o'clock eagle 5 minutes early!
Monarch butterfly: 7
Predictions:
Mild temps, increasing cloud cover and what we hope to be a good flight for
our first triple-digit day.
