A chill in the air prompting retrieval of jackets.
N winds 5-11 km/h increasing to 15-28km/h from NWby 11 a.m. By 2 p.m.
EST, began to subside and shift to variable.;
Temp: 19c > 27.5c;
Humidity: 51% dropping to 31% then increasing to 44% by 4pm.;
Bar.Pressure: 1018<1016;
Cloud cover: all blue sky early morning; few clouds began to move in by 11
a.m.. By afternoon partly cloudy and then overcast by 3 pm.
Slight haze cleared out.
Raptor Observations:
Few birds trickled through today with bulk before 12 pm EST. With
diminishing winds to variable, it pretty much came to a screeching halt.
After record setting Bald Eagle flight two weeks, there were no other
sightings until today. Kudos to Gordy Adamski for spotting the adult BE
at 12:46 pm.;
Osprey times: 1:14 pm; 1:45 pm; 1:47 pm; 2:26
Non-raptor Observations:
Monarch Butterfly - 26 (Happy to see obvious increase in numbers from last
year's record low numbers.)
Hummingbird - 14;
Tree Swallow - increasing numbers pushing through heading west into
valley.

The Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch is held on the grounds of the Inn at Afton,
located on the southern side of Rockfish Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains,
just above where I-64 (exit 99) intersects with the southern end of the
Skyline Drive and the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, just east of
Waynesboro, VA and approximately 22 miles west of Charlottesville, VA.
