George Wheaton (who graciously shared his scope with me) and I got great
looks at the PURPLE GALLINULE from 5:30 to 6:05 this evening. George had
been there since 4:45 or so, and the bird popped out of the marsh grass
through the wooden fence and into the puddle soon after I arrived at 5:30.
It spent most of its time near the Canada Geese in the yellow field nearby,
as described by Mike Boatwright. What an incredible bird! It was still
there when we left.
