VA Birders,
We had a good morning at Fort C.F. Smith Park, Arlington, yesterday.
Shortly after I arrived, and John Belz joined me, our first female COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT of the season came to the Bird Stream. Then, about 10:00 am, just
after
Joanna Taylor joined us, a PEREGRINE FALCON sailed by overhead. Other
highlights of the 36 species tallied during the morning included a BROWN
THRASHER,
at least 6 CEDAR WAXWINGS (including 2 juveniles), the first CHESTNUT-SIDED
WARBLER of the season (in fall plumage), a female ORCHARD ORIOLE, and 2
BALTIMORE
ORIOLES (1 a beautiful male, and the other probably a young male).
Good birding,
Val Kitchens
Arlington, VA
