Hi virginia birders,
I'm a Quebec's birder. I started a birdingtrip on the east Coast(USA) in
Scarborough marsh(Maine) on July 1st, till Cap Hatteras and Havelock(North
Carolina) to finish it on july 12 in New Jersey and get back home on july 15.
As I was on the way back north I stopped in Chincoteague Island NWR, Virginia
on July 11th. There was big thunder storm when I arrived there at noon.
I waited at the end of Beach Rd, till 1 O'clock pm for less rain. At 1 pm I
took my scope from the north parking lot to watch bird into the "Swan pool".
One sandpiper that looked like a sanderling stopped for about 2 minutes.
I took a few digiscopy picture of this bird... but after I looked to the
plumage, I saw that something seemed different.
-Rufous only on the throat
-Black spot each side of the throat
-White line behind the eye
-Rufous on the back between the scales
At home, I had Some talking and exchange with some canada birder's, few of them
think it could be a Stint. What do you think of it ?
