Birding in early July for the weekly Dyke Marsh bird walk sponsored by the
Friends of Dyke Marsh and open and free to all went pretty much as expected.
No migration yet and fewer singing birds led to a tally of only 39 bird
species. It was still a nice morning to be out. We saw several baby birds
including a fledged Osprey showing his spots. Orchard Orioles were feeding
young and a Marsh Wren called. The Purple Martins are fledged and we watched
them hanging out on the tops of the masts of the sailboats in the marina.
