Three birders spent about two hours on the top deck of parking garage number 2
at Dulles Airport this morning looking for the snowy owl currently in
residence. After over an hour, it was seen perched on a runway designation
marker off the southwest corner of the garage. This marker is a considerable
distance from the garage, and the sighting was routinely disturbed by heat
shimmer from taxiing aircraft. We watched for about half an hour while the
bird preened and looked around.
