I am sad to report that the body of the Golden Eagle that I named Virgil
Caine was found in New Brunswick, Canada this past April. Here is the link
to the news release from Libby Mojica of the Center for Conservation
Biology:
http://www.ccbbirds.org/2013/07/15/untimely-death-of-an-appalachian-golden-eagle/.
I know that many of you either financially supported this project or
followed the eagle's interesting migratory patterns for the past 5 years.
Many hoped that the year 2013 would be the year he/she would breed and
provide valuable information on nesting location, movements, etc.
Cause of death is not known.
