We conducted a VSO foray at Claytor Lake State Park in Radford County today,
June 8. The most notable species was a non breeder. There were 2 common
loons still primarily in winter plumage with one showing some breeding
plumage. We watched them fish just below the surface swimming rapidly in one
direction coming up then turning and retracing their path. Peggy and Bill
