Greetings Virginia Birders,
Eleven birders joined leader Geoff Giles for the regular 2nd Saturday Bird Walk
at New Quarter Park sponsored by the Williamsburg Bird Club. THANKS GEOFF for
leading our group and helping ID the birds.
New Quarter Park is a York County Park near Williamsburg, VA. Address is: 1000
Lakeshead Drive, Williamsburg 23185
The full bird list is below as Geoff entered it into eBird -- 35 species total!
Highlight: Satisfying and long looks at 2 Clapper Rails foraging and bathing
along the muddy bank of Queen's Creek. We often hear the Clapper Rails but
seldom see them.
Also, two Yellow-crowned Night Herons observed around the Queens Lake Marina.
The two young Osprey in the nest nearest the floating dock have fledged but
they continue to "hang out" around the nest with their parents.
The next bird walk will be Saturday, July 27 at 7 am with leader Bill Williams.
All Club bird walks and field trips are free and open to all.
