Eight of us got together for an early Spring bird walk at the Banshee Reeks
Nature Preserve Saturday, April 8. We found 41 species of birds of which the
highlights were numerous Tree Swallows checking out the various next boxes
there, gobbling Wild Turkeys, two Louisiana Waterthrushes in an area where
they are found most years (one of which one was singing and the other which
was much plainer and duller, making anxious chip calls), FOS (for most of
us) Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, and Ruby-crowned Kinglets for a nice seasonal
mix of birds.
