At approximately 10:45 this morning, I looked up to see 2 mature Bald Eagles
overhead in our Glencarlyn neighborhood in Arlington near Long Branch Nature
Center. The birds were traveling generally westerly, into the strong wind,
paralleling Rt. 50 but a few blocks south of it. I know it's
anthropomorphizing,
but I couldn't escape the impression that they were playing in the wind and
enjoying themselves. Their white heads and tails were brilliant in the
low-angle
but bright sunlight.
Only several miles further east, I had seen another mature Bald Eagle flying
directly over the Ronald Reagan Building at Federal Triangle in Washington DC
last week, on another very windy day, also flying west. Fun to see them around
at work and at home. Cheers,
Steve Young
