Hello all
This morning at 7 am I & nine other birders from the Augusta Bird Club did a
summer walk / drive thru the Swoope & the Augusta Wetlands area . The walk
ended at my property with a total of 70 species seen for the day & we had good
looks at one of the Cooper's hawk chicks who sat on the nests edge. I think the
high lights go to the birds nest in which we found in the Swoope area . First
nest was a Kingbird's nest in a Walnut tree on Rt . 707 . Nest number 2 & 3
were at the Boys Scout Camp . They were a Cedar Waxwing's nest in a Va. Pine &
a Baltimore Oriole's nest in an White Oak tree in the Scout Camps care takers
yard . We also observed a pair of Yellow Warblers bring food to a nest site on
Rt. 705 near the intersection of Rt. 706. Observed at the Wetlands was a male
Flicker going into a cavity .
Birds of interest was a young Dickcissel singing only half of its song on Rt .
705 on the right hand side of the road & a couple of Bobolinks singing in the
field on the other side . We had great views of a male Bobwhite while another
called out up the road from us at the intersection of Rts. 705 & 706 . Also in
various places we had Willow Flycatcher . Below is a list of all the birds seen
