VA Birders,
We (Roger & Lynda Mayhorn) are once again hosting a Warbler Watch at our house
on Compton Mt. on Saturday, September 10th, and we would like to invite you to
come and share the day with us and other birders. The warblers and other
migrants pass through our ridge top yard and fields on their way south. Last
year 60 species were counted throughout the day. The birds start dropping from
the sky into the yard to feed just after sunrise. Those who arrive early see
more birds.
My wife, Lynda, will be serving a free lunch of hotdogs, sandwiches, chicken
nuggets, baked beans, chips and desserts. Bring a lawn or camp chair, your
binoculars and your favorite soft drink (drinks are not included with the
lunch). We have a great time, get some fantastic looks at beautiful birds
without having to hike, and enjoy good conversation and good food. Those who
have been to this event more than once look forward to Janice Martin's
fantastic spinach dip. Any appetizer or dessert that you would like to bring
would also be appreciated.
