I got a call earlier from Mike Boatwright who was at Stumpy Lake in
Virginia Beach. At the time, he was viewing an Anhinga that was sitting
in the top of one of the 3 Cypress trees that are in the middle of the
lake on the left hand side of the causeway that leads to the golf course
parking lot. Earlier in the day, Mike visited Craney Island where he
had several good birds. In the NE corner of the northernmost
impoundment there was an American Avocet and 2 Wilson's Phalaropes.
Also, in the grassy sections along the road near the NW corner, there
was an Upland Sandpiper and an American Golden Plover. Since Mike is
spending the weekend in Va. Beach without a computer, he wanted me to
get theses sightings out in case anyone wanted to look for these birds
this weekend. Good birding.
