The immature male Allen's Hummingbird was most recently seen at sunset - but
not seen at midday - today at 9 Randolph Avenue in Cape Charles. Other birds
in town include five Redheads on Crystal Lake (eastern section), a Common
Merganser at Bay Creek Golf Course, a Northern Pintail and 50 Ruddy Ducks there
at various times, and increasing numbers of Canada Geese (getting to be a good
time to look for Cackling Goose). (All these thanks to Tom Saunders.) On
the CBBT, increasing numbers of Long-tailed Ducks (up to 60 on Island One) and
Bonaparte's Gulls, with an adult Black-headed Gull among the Bonies at 3:55
p.m. yesterday.
