Did a lunchtime walk of the woods of Algonkian Regional Park in Loudoun
County today. Highlights include a large number of woodpeckers, a
red-breasted nuthatch, and an exceptional forest look at that rare
hystricognath rodent, the Cavia Porcellus, also frequently refered to as a
Guinea Pig. Why he was in the middle of the Loudoun woods, I'll never
know... since he is native to South America.

By the way, the Piliateds had at least one fledgling last year. Anyone know
how long the young stay with the parents? Just wondering if they are going
to be breeding again this year...
