VA Birders,
Just after returning to the house this morning from an errand, my wife called
me to the kitchen window to see an unusual bird. It was a partial albino
goldfinch near the feeders. It had a light yellow head but white body with dark
primaries. It left quickly when a small flock of Red-wings flew in. However,
within a few minutes it was back. I was ready with the camera and got a few
photos. The bird stayed only about 5 minutes and left again and never returned.

The fact that this bird was at the feeder only a few minutes makes the point
that many of the "regulars" we see at our feeders are not regulars at all, but
birds that move from one area to another. Because they look like the same birds
we have been seeing we don't realize that they are different birds.
